House Democrats are also expected to push for stronger gun control measures in 2019. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has expressed the views that stricter gun control will save more lives. Pelosi furthermore maintains that implementing such measures is a priority for House Democrats.
Despite the Democrats’ victory in the House, the Senate and presidency are still very much red. Pelosi did not elaborate regarding Democrats’ plans for getting gun control legislation through the Senate and signed by President Trump.
While Democrats and Republicans harbor staunchly different views on healthcare, guns, and more, bipartisanship may be in the cards. Earlier this month, Pelosi professed that House Democrats aspire to “find common ground” with Republican lawmakers.
