Drivers may not have a clear vision of what’s behind them when reversing, which increases the likelihood of accidents caused by this delay in the camera’s visibility.
After releasing a software update, Tesla promptly resolved the problem and began an over-the-air (OTA) distribution on September 19, 2024. This fix should correct the delayed rearview image problem, allowing affected vehicles to satisfy the required safety criteria.
A Series of Recalls for the Cybertruck
Since the Cybertruck’s release to the public in late 2023, Tesla has had to issue recalls for the vehicle five times. Due to warning lights that were hard to read, Tesla recalled more than 2 million cars earlier this year, including Cybertrucks.

A problem with the accelerator pedal sticking led to the recall of an additional 4,000 Cybertrucks in April 2024, raising questions about the vehicle’s road safety. Two further recalls for defective windscreen wipers and loose trim parts were issued in June 2024, underscoring the technical issues that Tesla’s Cybertruck has been experiencing.
