In response, Amazon has been quietly working on a substantial update to its voice assistant, Alexa, which is set to be relaunched as Alexa 2.0 and Alexa Plus.
According to an online report by The Washington Post, the revamped Alexa will debut in October with updated AI features designed to make the assistant more engaging and versatile.

This new version is designed not only to enhance the user experience but also to compete directly with Siri, ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Copilot. For the first time, Amazon will also introduce a web UI version of Alexa, further expanding its reach.
The upcoming version of Alexa is expected to be a significant departure from the classic model.
The report suggests that the improved Alexa Plus may come with a subscription fee, potentially costing “as much as $10 a month,” while the current version of Alexa will be rebranded as “classic Alexa.”
