Alexander Brothers Face Charges of Sex Trafficking and Rape

Alexander Brothers arrest

Twin brothers Oren and Alon Alexander, along with their elder brother Tal Alexander, are facing multiple state and federal charges, including sex trafficking and rape. The three brothers, prominent international real estate brokers based in New York and Miami, were arraigned last month at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building in Miami and are now in federal custody.

The judge criticized a lawyer who argued a woman can't be incapacitated if she can still stand up.

A judge in Manhattan denied bail on Wednesday for the Alexander brothers in their federal sex trafficking case. The judge says the brothers are all a flight risk and could also present a danger if released.

They will remain in-jail in Miami pending their trial.

Allegations of Long-Standing Abuse

According to the indictment filed in December, prosecutors allege that the Alexander brothers “worked together, and with others known and unknown, to repeatedly and violently drug, sexually assault, and rape” victims in New York, Miami, and other locations. The indictment claims the alleged sex trafficking conspiracy began in 2010, though accusations of sexual violence date back more than 20 years to their high school years in Miami.

Law enforcement officers have interviewed over 40 women, with at least 10 women separately accusing each brother of forcible rape between 2002 and 2021. Prosecutors claim the brothers engaged in a pattern of “pre-planned trips and events” to lure victims, as well as opportunistic assaults on women they encountered by chance.

Defense attorneys have maintained the brothers’ innocence, arguing that their relationships with the alleged victims were consensual.

Evidence Uncovered in Manhattan Apartment

Investigators uncovered damning evidence during a search of Tal Alexander’s Manhattan apartment on “Billionaire’s Row.” Prosecutors revealed they found “trophies” including sexually explicit photos and videos of women in “states of intoxication and undress.”

Some videos reportedly show Oren and Alon Alexander, along with other men, engaging in sexual acts with women “visibly under the influence of alcohol or other substances.” In certain instances, prosecutors allege, the brothers and others manipulated women’s bodies while the women appeared unable to participate actively or turned away.

“The fact that video versions of trophies of the defendants’ criminal conduct were found in Tal Alexander’s residence as recently as last month also suggests that the defendants have not closed the door on their criminal conduct,” prosecutors argued.

Tal Alexander’s Wife Files for Divorce

Amid the scandal, Tal Alexander’s wife, Arielle Kogut, has filed for divorce. In a statement to The Real Deal released by her attorney, she said, “I will continue to provide my young baby with love and support as I leave my husband. This commitment to my child’s best interests and well-being will remain my highest priority.”

Upcoming Legal Proceedings

The Alexander brothers have been charged with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and a separate count of sex trafficking at least one woman by force, fraud, or coercion. Tal Alexander faces an additional charge for trafficking a second victim.

The brothers are currently being held in federal custody and are likely to be housed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where high-profile inmates such as Sean “Diddy” Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried are also being held. A status conference for the case is scheduled for January 29.
