Joe Biden's approval ratings have been in freefall for nearly as long as he's been in office. The growing disapproval of the current president tracks with the series of back-to-back problems that America's been facing on his watch. Ironically, as these problems worsen, Biden's doubled down, rather than relenting to better his public standing. Last week, the White House took heat for a statement released via press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. This statement claimed that at no time in US history has the economy been stronger than it is today. However, this claim is simply not true. Now, a fresh poll by Civiqs shows that less than three out of ten Americans support the job performance of the current president.

What to know about the newest poll

According to Civiqs, just 29% of the country approves of Biden's work as president. Twice as many Americans (58%), on the other hand, disapprove of the president's job performance. The numbers for Biden aren't better even when they're isolated to various demographics. For instance, the same poll shows only 19% of Independent voters currently approve of Biden. Meanwhile, more than three times as many Independents (67%) confirmed their disapproval of the president. With Hispanic Americans, Biden likewise remains underwater with more disfavor than favor.

Another hidden factor

Within the past several weeks, the White House has encountered some pushback from its own base. Democrats are beginning to openly profess that Biden is too old and ineffective to seek a second term in 2024. Likewise, many on the left remain dissatisfied with how the president reacted to the Supreme Court gutting Roe v. Wade. Much of Biden's base called for more muscle from him in opposing this. Yet, the Biden administration hasn't taken too kindly to such feedback. Recently, the White House lashed out against this criticism with a dismissive statement. The administration, by its own acknowledgment, believes the left-wing complaints against Biden's reaction to Roe's downfall aren't within the Democrat Party's mainstream base. All of this comes amid Biden's reportedly rising irritation over his party questioning whether he's truly fit to run for office. At the rate things are going, Biden's nationwide approval rating may soon be in for new lows.
