This news follows an incident in January involving Alaska Airlines where a door blew off mid-flight, leading to a criminal investigation into Boeing.

Recent events on its planes include the mid-flight door incident and multiple leaks during flight have heightened the scrutiny.

This month a United flight 433 landed safely at Rogue Valley International/Medford Airport. It was discovered the aircraft was missing an external panel.

The government ordered all Boeing 737 Max 8s to be grounded and inspected before they could fly again. And the company failed 33 out of 89 FAA audits during that examination.

These incidents have led people to become worried about the safety of the planes.

Industry stakeholders welcome Calhoun’s departure. Criticism from figures such as the CEO of Ireland’s Ryanair underscores the growing discontent with Boeing’s management.

There have also been calls for a leadership “reboot” to address systemic issues within the company amidst the heightened scrutiny and government investigations.
