Bourbon Street Hustler: Super Bowl Reporter’s Death Linked to Career Criminal

Bourbon Street Hustler

Danette Colbert, 45, infamously known as the "Bourbon Street Hustler," has been arrested in connection with the death of 27-year-old Telemundo reporter Adan Manzano.

Manzano, a Kansas City-based journalist, was in New Orleans covering Super Bowl LIX when he was found dead on February 5.

Security footage from the Comfort Suites in Kenner, Louisiana, shows Colbert entering Manzano’s hotel room at 4:35 a.m. and leaving briefly before re-entering.

Around 6 a.m., she exited for the last time. Authorities later discovered Manzano's body, raising suspicions that he may have been drugged before his death.

Bourbon Street Hustler Tied to Another Suspicious Death

Kenner police are investigating whether Colbert is connected to another suspicious death in New Orleans that occurred months prior. The police had been looking for a suspect known as the Bourbon Street Hustler

Described as a "career criminal" by authorities, she has a history of similar offenses, particularly in Las Vegas, where she faces outstanding warrants from 2022.

Colbert has been charged with multiple offenses, including:

  • Four counts of being a fugitive
  • Two traffic violations
  • One count of purse-snatching
  • One count of aggravated device fraud
  • One count of illegal transfer of funds
  • One count of bank fraud
  • One count of computer fraud
  • One count of robbery

During a search warrant executed at her residence, authorities discovered a stolen firearm, narcotics, and knockout drugs, reinforcing suspicions that Manzano may have been drugged. Additional charges could follow pending the medical examiner's report.

Kenner Police Press Conference

Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley addressed the case in a press conference, revealing that Manzano’s credit card and cellphone were missing from his hotel room.

"It was the same credit card that was used to check into the hotel, as well as a cellphone that was missing," Conley stated.

He described Colbert’s pattern of crime as a "confidence game," saying, "She's definitely a career criminal. All her crimes are against persons, such as access device frauds, simple robberies, thefts, things of that nature."

Authorities are also investigating multiple reports of other suspicious deaths under similar circumstances.

Remembering Adan Manzano

Telemundo 39 released a statement honoring Manzano, calling him "a true professional and a rising star, who exemplified excellence in his work."

"We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community," the statement added.

Tragically, Manzano’s wife, Ashleigh Boyd, had passed away earlier in 2024 in a Kansas car accident.

Colbert’s Criminal Past in Las Vegas

Colbert's criminal history extends to Las Vegas, where records show she was involved in two separate cases in 2022. She faced charges of grand larceny and administering a drug to aid in the commission of a felony.

One victim, a man who met Colbert at a bar in the Wynn Las Vegas, reported waking up with blood on his face and $100,000 in cash and valuables stolen. This includes $50,000 in cash, $11,000 in casino chips, and a $30,000 Rolex watch.

Security footage captured Colbert leaving his room with the victim’s bag. However, prosecutors dismissed both cases in October 2022 after victims declined to testify.

“This brings to light that there are people out there that prey on others, bring them into their confidence, and victimize them,” Conley remarked.

Authorities continue investigating Colbert's potential involvement in other crimes and suspicious deaths. As more victims come forward, law enforcement is working to uncover the full extent of her criminal activities.
