As a backer of Medicare-for-All, Warren has not directly come out and stated that the proposal will surge taxes for middle America. By contrast, Bernie Sanders maintains that while taxes may increase, Americans will still pay less for healthcare; this is a claim which individuals of various political affiliations feel differently about.
Nevertheless, Buttigieg shared his own thoughts on the matter. The 2020 hopeful censured Warren for “evading” questions; this occured before Buttigieg declared that Medicare-for-All will, in fact, increase taxes on the middle class.
In Buttigieg’s own words:
“Senator Warren is known for being straightforward, and was extremely evasive when asked that question, and we’ve seen that repeatedly. I think that if you are proud of your plan and it’s the right plan, you should defend it in straightforward terms.”
Mayor Pete Buttigieg says Sen. Elizabeth Warren has been “extremely evasive” about how she would pay for her “Medicare for All” plan.

“And I think it’s puzzling that when everybody knows the answer to that question, of whether her plan and Senator Sanders’ plan will raise middle-class taxes is yes; why you wouldn’t just say so and then explain why you think that’s the better way forward.”
GOP Criticism of Left-Wing Healthcare Proposals
Both Medicare-for-All and talks of restoring Obamacare have generated immense backlash from conservatives.
