During his Netflix special “Selective Outrage,” Chris Rock finally addressed the controversial Will Smith Oscars slap incident, publicly speaking out about it for the first time. In the final minutes of his set, the 58-year-old comedian launched a scathing attack on the 54-year-old actor and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, 51, nearly a year after the incident took place. Rock referenced former rapper Suge Knight, who is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter in 2018, as he addressed the infamous incident over an hour into his set.
“You all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Suge Smith,” he began. “Everybody knows! Everybody f—— knows! Yes, it happened. I got smacked. A year ago, I got slapped at the f—— Oscars by this motherf—— and people are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts! I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ear! But I’m not a victim. You will never see me on Oprah or Gayle, crying.”
He continued, “No, it’s never gonna happen. No. F— that s—., I took that hit like Pacquiao motherf—–!”
