Hightower told Dateline NBC that Niroula secretly allowed two accomplices into Lambert’s Palm Springs home, where they fatally stabbed him and buried his body in a shallow grave north of Los Angeles. “Garcia was charming, worldly, and manipulative,” Hightower said. “He had the kind of personality that could make anyone trust him.”

Within months, all six suspects were arrested. Garcia, Niroula, and David Replogle, a San Francisco lawyer, were among those charged with murder, conspiracy, and grand theft. They were convicted in 2011 and 2012 and sentenced to life without parole.
