Babin claims several instances as evidence for Omar’s removal from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, including her Feb. 2019 tweet “It’s all about the Benjamins baby.” This was Omar’s response to a comment made by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy about punishing Omar for being critical of Israel.
This is not the first time Rep Omar is facing a call for expulsion. Last year, Alabama GOP representatives at the state level passed a resolution to have her removed because of her behavior and rhetoric. State Rep Tommy Hanes (R-Bryant) came to the floor to make a case for his proposal.
“It’s just simply asking this body to ask the U.S. delegation, the Alabama delegation in Washington, D.C. to start proceedings to unseat Ilhan Omar, congresswoman from Minnesota,” Hanes said. “This woman is continuously spewing anti-American rhetoric, anti-Semitism. She is un-American. She came from a war-torn country in Somalia to seek protection under Lady Liberty’s hand.”
