The tech world just witnessed a seismic shift. Google’s $32 billion acquisition of cloud security powerhouse Wiz has officially cleared U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) antitrust review, propelling the search giant one step closer to sealing one of the largest cybersecurity deals in history.

The Google-Wiz $32B deal, first unveiled in March, aims to embed Wiz’s cutting-edge cybersecurity technology into Google Cloud — while still keeping Wiz’s services available on rival platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud.

The DOJ had launched its review in June amid concerns over potential competition barriers, but by Wednesday, the agency had given its blessing. Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport broke the news during a Wall Street Journal event, with Google later confirming the clearance.

“More Choice, More Security,” Says Google

“Increasing access to multicloud security solutions, as this acquisition will do, will provide businesses and governments more choice in how they protect themselves,” a Google spokesperson told Law360. “We look forward to completing the review process in other jurisdictions.”

The deal still requires international regulatory approvals, but Google expects to close the transaction in 2026, marking one of Alphabet Inc.’s most ambitious strategic plays since acquiring Mandiant in 2022.

Tech Leaders Celebrate the Milestone

Within hours of the DOJ’s clearance, top Google executives expressed excitement across social media.

Yuval Passov, head of Google for Startups, celebrated the breakthrough on LinkedIn, writing:

“This crucial milestone paves the way for integrating Wiz’s cutting-edge technology directly into Google Cloud. It will powerfully enhance our global cybersecurity solutions and help businesses mitigate critical risks.”

Steve Soleimani, Google Cloud’s customer service executive, echoed that sentiment, calling the clearance “a significant milestone toward integrating Wiz’s technology into Google Cloud.”

Neither Wiz nor the Justice Department provided immediate public comments late Wednesday.

Wiz’s Meteoric Rise and Billion-Dollar Backers

Founded in 2020, Wiz has become one of the fastest-growing players in cybersecurity. Its cloud-native platform enables global enterprises to detect and eliminate security vulnerabilities across complex cloud environments.

Wiz’s client roster includes corporate titans such as Morgan Stanley, DocuSign, and BMW — a testament to its robust architecture and reliability.

The deal’s $32 billion valuation underscores Wiz’s explosive growth and dominance in cloud security. Just last year, the company raised $1 billion at a $12 billion valuation in a round led by Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Thrive Capital, alongside Greenoaks, Sequoia Capital, Index Ventures, and Blackstone.
