Recent weeks have seen new attention directed towards the campaign of 2024 GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley. Haley, a former governor of South Carolina and the former UN ambassador, continues to make the case that she's the best shot Republicans have of winning next year's presidential race. Some GOP members seem to agree with her. Not only has Haley risen in various polls, but she also retained the endorsement of Americans For Prosperity. Around the same time, Geoff Duncan, the former lieutenant governor of Georgia, wrote a CNN op-ed heralding Haley as Republicans' best candidate to defeat Trump in the primary and Biden in the general election. Weeks out from the Iowa caucuses, Haley is now turning up the heat against Trump.

What to know about Haley's latest attack on Trump

While speaking in Sioux Center, Iowa, Haley warned Republican voters that the former president is a candidate who carries chaos with him wherever he goes. She also pointed out that right now, the United States already faces chaos, given issues like the southern border, crime, the economy, etc. Therefore, it is Haley's view that right-wing chaos doesn't pose an antidote to left-wing chaos. The former South Carolina governor stated the solution to the current madness facing America is a "new generational conservative leader." She didn't stop there, though. Haley also pointed out the pattern of losing that Republicans continue to face. In noting the GOP won only one out of eight past popular votes for White House elections, she warned that Republicans need to be able to secure the support of most Americans. So far, Democrats consistently blow Republicans out of the water in this area. Though multiple polls have shown Haley leading Biden in a general election matchup, oftentimes by double digits.

Who are GOP voters supporting?

So far, among candidates challenging the former president for the nomination, Haley and DeSantis are widely viewed as the strongest ones. The two Republicans have also started taking potshots at one another during debates and on the campaign trail. DeSantis regularly goes after Haley for her record on different social issues that he views as too permissive to the left. Meanwhile, Haley claims DeSantis is only targeting her because he's "losing" the race.
