In March and April, the e-commerce giant hired a total of 175,000 warehouse workers and delivery drivers across the country because of the sudden increase in online shopping during the outbreak of the COVID-19.
It is currently recruiting professionals to join its telemedicine service called Amazon Care. The available positions include Business Development Manager, Finance Manager, Security Engineer, Software Development Engineers, and more.
Amazon is among the companies that are flourishing amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Many companies in almost all industries— from the airlines, entertainment, hotel, to restaurants— were negatively impacted by the pandemic, forcing them to layoff dozens, hundreds, and even thousands of employees. Currently, there are 12 million unemployed workers in the United States, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Shoppers are expected to do most of their holiday shopping online to prevent getting infected by the deadly virus. More than 8.8 million people are infected with COVID-19 and over 227 people lost their lives because of the disease s of October 29, according to data from Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
