For years, everyday Americans have felt the weight of an economy that's pressing down on them. The growing costs of everyday living expenses has been a major factor. Adding to the stress are rising job layoffs making it harder for people to find or keep work.

Just earlier this month, Red Lobster announced the shutdown of dozens more locations after already closing multiple restaurants back in May. All in all, people are just finding it more difficult to get through each month, feed their kids, and have money left over for savings afterwards.

Days ago, a new survey from YouGov shined a light on the economic particulars that are proving to be most cumbersome for everyday people.

What's keeping Americans up at night?

Inflation leads, with 67% of the country viewing this as a major issue. Debt and homelessness come next, as 59% of Americans see these issues as top of mind for themselves and their families.

The economy isn't the only source of concern, however. YouGov's findings next revealed that 31% see the surge of antisemitism as problematic. Meanwhile, 53% of Americans worry about illegal immigration and the impacts it will have on their lives.

When separating various matters across party lines, the results get even more interesting. Democrats are more likely to worry about gun violence, climate change, poverty, healthcare, and homelessness. For Republicans, on the other hand, the subjects they deem to be most pressing are inflation, illegal immigration, drug abuse, and debt.

Less than 70 days remaining until November 5

In barely over two month's time, Americans will head to the polls to determine whether Vice President Harris or former President Trump will be the next person to lead our country. With both contenders set to debate each other next month, voters are looking to them to address the aforementioned matters.

Harris has made uplifting the middle class a prevailing theme of her candidacy, promising to be a president who works on behalf of all Americans. Likewise, Trump vows that a return to his 2016-2020 policies can address economic concerns and make this nation "great again."

Time will ultimately tell which pitch proves to be most effective with the American people.
