During her nearly three-decade tenure, Weil played a pivotal role in Sony Pictures’ evolution into the digital age. This journey included the acquisition of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the 1990s and the groundbreaking deal securing Marvel intellectual property rights for Spider-Man.

Triumphs and Trials

Weil’s leadership extended beyond triumphs to include navigating through challenges, notably the infamous cyberattack in 2014. The breach, which compromised the company’s network, resulted in leaked films, personal data, and a trove of sensitive information, including Social Security numbers of high-profile figures such as Sylvester Stallone, Conan O’Brien, Judd Apatow, and Rebel Wilson.

In addition to weathering cyber threats, Weil successfully led negotiations with the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists during extended strikes.
