Sunoco LP has added 36 convenience stores to its growing portfolio, a move that underscores the fuel distributor’s steady march across the U.S. retail landscape.
The acquisition, from Pops Mart Fuel LLC, was completed this week, according to American Business Brokers and Advisors, the Fort Myers Beach, Florida-based firm that advised Pops Mart on the transaction.
Pops Mart Portfolio Partially Changes Hands
Cayce, South Carolina-based Pops Mart Fuel operates 54 convenience stores spread across North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
The company entered Wisconsin in 2023 through its purchase of Scully Oil in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, expanding its footprint beyond the Carolinas.
Sunoco LP ranks No. 96 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 list of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count, while Pops Mart sits at No. 153.
Deal Driven by Strategic Fit
Pops Mart Fuel CEO Don Draughon said the company had been weighing additional dealer-site acquisitions and further expansion when discussions with Sunoco began.
According to American Business Brokers and Advisors, Draughon cited strong synergies between the two companies as the key factor that led him to consider a sale. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
