Millions of music lovers are asking the same question this week: What’s wrong with Spotify? The popular streaming app has been freezing and crashing on some Android devices, frustrating users who rely on it for their daily playlists.
According to reports from 9to5Google and Spotify’s official community forums, the issue seems to occur primarily when devices are connected to Wi-Fi, not mobile data.
Spotify Users Report Crashing Issues
The problem first surfaced about two weeks ago, with users taking to Spotify’s Community Forums to report that the app becomes unresponsive or crashes constantly when connected to Wi-Fi. The issue appears to affect mainly Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices.
“Spotify keeps freezing every few minutes — it’s become impossible to use,” one user wrote. Another added, “It works fine when I switch to mobile data, but the moment I connect to Wi-Fi, it just crashes.”
Spotify has since acknowledged the issue, confirming:
“We’ve received reports from Android users (mainly Samsung and Google Pixel) experiencing issues where the Spotify app becomes unresponsive, freezes, or crashes when connected to certain Wi-Fi networks. The issue doesn’t occur while using mobile data.”
