Minnesota Governor Tim Walz described the killings as “a politically motivated assassination.” Rep. Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband, Mark, were fatally shot. Sen. John Hoffman (D) and his wife, Yvette, were also shot multiple times at their home five miles away but survived.
“People were told not to engage with any lone officers,” one official said, citing concerns about Boelter’s disguise.
Hit List and Political Motivation
According to USA Herald, authorities found a hit list in Boelter’s possession that included pro-choice lawmakers, reinforcing the belief that this was an ideologically motivated act of domestic terrorism.
Boelter’s wife, Jenny, was also questioned after being stopped by law enforcement, per Men’s Journal.
