Day 22 of Trumps NY Fraud

The courtroom drama continues to unfold in the Attorney General Letitia James' fraud case against the Trump family. Day 22 saw the return of Donald Trump Jr. to the witness stand, and his brother Eric Trump was next in line, shedding light on their involvement in the statements of financial condition and intent.

Trump Jr. Faces Intense Questioning

As the proceedings unfolded, Faherty, the attorney for the Attorney General's office, questioned Donald Trump Jr. on his knowledge of the statements of financial condition and intent. When asked about his thoughts on the work done by the former CFO and controller, Trump Jr. replied, "I actually think that things are materially correct."

However, the judge dug deeper, asking if he had any involvement in these statements, to which Trump Jr. emphatically responded, "No, I did not, your Honor." He also mentioned that their new CFO is a certified public accountant (CPA).

The courtroom was filled with a flurry of objections regarding the remedial steps taken by the Trump Organization after the government's investigation began. Ultimately, there was no cross-examination of Trump Jr.

Next up, the attorney general's office called Eric Trump to the stand.

Day 22 of Trump's NY Fraud: A Quick Break and an Unusual Request

A brief recess provided an unexpected moment when Donald Trump Jr. asked a court artist to "make me look sexy." He even showed an AI-generated image of himself, likening it to a superhero's appearance.

Documents and Signatures in Question

The court examined an engagement letter for a Westchester estate at Briarcliff Manor, signed by Eric Trump but made out to his brother, Donald Trump Jr. When questioned about this, Trump Jr. explained that the document was sent to him, but it was his brother's project, and Eric would handle the details.

Later, documents regarding the sale of the rights to operate the Trump Links golf course in the Bronx for $60 million were brought into question. Trump's attorneys objected on the grounds of relevance, while Faherty argued for the documents' importance in the context of disgorgement.

When asked about the profit from the sale, Trump Jr. admitted, "I didn't make anything," adding that the exact net profit was unknown due to numerous costs.

Day 22 of Trump's NY Fraud : Recollections and Certifications

The proceedings delved into Donald Trump Jr.'s recollections about the statements of financial condition and their accuracy. He repeatedly emphasized that he had no specific recollection of the underlying data or the steps taken to ensure their accuracy.

Intent and Certifications Questioned

Donald Trump Jr. struggled to provide a clear answer to questions about whether he intended for banks to rely on his certifications for Deutsche Bank loans. While he stated he was "fine with the bank relying on it," he later admitted uncertainty about his intent, leading to an unresolved exchange with the judge.

Trump Jr.'s Response to Forbes and 'Cover Your Butt Letter'

Faherty presented an email exchange where Trump Jr. responded to Forbes Magazine's inquiries about the size of Trump's triplex apartment in 2017. Trump Jr. couldn't recall this interaction.

Additionally, he discussed a representation letter he signed in 2017, certifying that the Trump Organization provided all necessary information to the accounting firm Mazars without fraud. Trump Jr. explained he relied on Mazars and the accounting team led by Allen Weisselberg and Jeff McConney.

Donald Trump Jr. Takes the Stand

In a sharp blue suit and pink shirt, Donald Trump Jr. returned to the courtroom. His testimony centered on the statements of financial condition, reiterating his limited involvement in their preparation.

Day 22 of Trump's NY Fraud : Day 22 Commences

The day began with anticipation as Donald Trump Jr. returned to the witness stand. The court heard from the state's expert who testified that the banks had lost millions due to fraudulent statements of financial condition. Don Jr. denied significant involvement in the net worth statements.

The courtroom was bustling as photographers and journalists prepared for another day of the high-stakes trial.

In summary, Day 22 of the Trump family's NY fraud case brought intense questioning of Donald Trump Jr. and a glimpse into the financial intricacies of the Trump Organization. The case continues to captivate onlookers with its twists and turns.
