Finland to build major TNT factory in Pori

Finnish explosives company Forcit announced plans Friday to invest over €200 million ($207.4 million) in constructing a new TNT production facility in Pori, Finland. The project, developed in collaboration with the country’s defense administration and local authorities, aims to strengthen military security of supply across Europe.

Strategic Investment in European Security

“Forcit’s investment in Finland is an investment in increasing the safety and security of not only Finland but also Europe as a whole,” said Forcit CEO Joakim Westerlund. The company emphasized that Europe currently lacks sufficient TNT production capacity, making the new facility a critical development for regional defense efforts.

State-owned private equity firm Tesi is involved in securing investments for the project, which is expected to have a significant impact on both national and European defense industries.
