Reality star Kim Kardashian has returned to Paris to testify in the highly publicized “Kim Kardashian robbery” case, nearly nine years after she was bound, gagged, and robbed at gunpoint during Paris Fashion Week.

Kardashian, 43, arrived under tight security at the Palais de Justice on Tuesday to face the suspects accused of stealing more than $10 million in jewels from her hotel suite in 2016.

The incident, which made global headlines, is now back in the spotlight as French courts try several men linked to the heist.

“I truly feared for my life,” Kardashian said during her testimony, according to AP News. “I thought they were going to shoot me, and no one would find out until it was too late.”

The robbery occurred during Paris Fashion Week on October 3, 2016. Kardashian was alone in her private apartment at the Hôtel de Pourtalès when masked men disguised as police officers burst in.

They tied her up, locked her in a bathroom, and stole millions in jewelry, including her $4 million engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West.

The USA Today reported that Kardashian recounted the details with a calm but firm voice, saying, “One man held a gun to my head, and I begged him not to kill me.”

Back in the City That Traumatized Her

Kardashian had avoided returning to Paris for several years after the robbery. Her decision to appear in person has been widely praised. “It’s a huge moment,” noted a legal commentator on YouTube. “She’s confronting her trauma and demanding justice.”

The defendants include several men in their 60s and 70s, many with prior criminal records. French media have dubbed them “the grandpa gang.”

In 2022, 12 people were charged in connection with the robbery, and now several are finally standing trial.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Kardashian hopes her testimony will contribute to convictions. “I want them to know they can’t do this to people and walk away,” she said.
