Newly obtained footage from CBS News Philadelphia reveals the terrifying sequence. A Ring camera mounted on a nearby home recorded the structure folding inward, floor after floor dropping from top to bottom in a matter of seconds.

For nearby residents, the collapse sounded like something out of a storm.

“It was a big boom, and then I thought it was thunder and lightning,” one neighbor said, describing the moment the ground seemed to shake beneath them.

Project Faced Community Concerns

The garage was being constructed to serve employees of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, a project that had already stirred debate within the neighborhood.

Residents had previously voiced concerns that the development could bring increased traffic, pollution, and potential health risks to the area.

In response, CHOP officials said the design had been revised to better serve the community. Plans included a ground-floor community health space, expanded greenery, public art installations, and improved pedestrian access.

Investigation Underway as Search Continues

A spokesperson for CHOP stated the hospital is fully cooperating with investigators and emphasized that worker safety remains a top priority.

Meanwhile, emergency crews are continuing their search for the two missing workers, with efforts expected to extend into Thursday.

At a late-night news conference, Cherelle Parker vowed that the city would not relent in its efforts.

“We will not rest until everyone is accounted for from this tragedy,” Parker said.
