The New York Knicks have finally climbed back to the top of the basketball world, ending a 53-year wait for an NBA championship and sending fans across New York City into a frenzy.

The Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, completing yet another remarkable comeback and delivering the franchise's first league title since 1973.

The victory was fueled by a record-setting performance from star guard Jalen Brunson, who scored 45 points and cemented his place in Knicks history.

New York Knicks Championship Decades in the Making

From Madison Square Garden to neighborhood watch parties and bars throughout the city, thousands of fans celebrated as the final buzzer sounded.

Outside Madison Square Garden, supporters dressed in the team's signature orange and blue erupted in cheers after witnessing one of the greatest moments in franchise history.

"We did it, baby! We did it!" one emotional fan shouted while celebrating with fellow supporters.

Another longtime fan described the championship as overwhelming.

"Sometimes you get speechless just talking about it. You get the chills and tears come into your eyes," he said while celebrating outside the arena.

New York Knicks Celebrate Another Incredible Comeback

The Knicks once again demonstrated the resilience that defined their postseason run.

Despite trailing by 10 points entering the fourth quarter and falling behind by as many as 16 points during the first half, New York stormed back to defeat the Spurs by four points. The comeback followed an equally stunning Game 4 victory in which the Knicks erased a record 29-point deficit—the largest comeback in NBA Finals history—to take control of the series.

Brunson carried the offense throughout the decisive contest, finishing with 45 points while knocking down a series of clutch baskets in the closing minutes. His scoring total set a new franchise record for the most points by a Knicks player in an NBA Finals game.

Historic Playoff Run

The championship capped an unforgettable postseason for New York.

The Knicks put together a 13-game winning streak during the playoffs, sweeping both the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers before eliminating the Spurs in five games. Along the way, the team also recorded the largest playoff victory in franchise history—a 51-point win over the Atlanta Hawks—and authored the biggest comeback ever seen in an NBA Finals game.

The combination of clutch performances, relentless defense, and fourth-quarter resilience transformed the Knicks into one of the most memorable championship teams in franchise history.

New York Knicks Celebrity Fans Join the Celebration

Several well-known Knicks supporters were in attendance for the championship-clinching game, including actors Tracy Morgan, John Turturro, and Giancarlo Esposito, filmmaker Spike Lee, and New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo.

The victory sparked celebrations both inside the arena and throughout New York City, with many fans pouring into the streets to celebrate the long-awaited title.

Celebrations Lead to Arrests

Not every celebration remained orderly.

According to police sources, the New York Police Department made four arrests near Madison Square Garden for assaulting a police officer, two arrests for disorderly conduct, and one arrest for obstructing governmental administration before the game had even concluded.

Despite a handful of incidents, the overwhelming mood throughout the city was one of joy as generations of Knicks fans celebrated a championship many believed they might never witness.
