A Massachusetts personal injury attorney, Eric Parker, looks forward to visiting his family every year during the holidays. When he returns home, he is honored to remember the woman that made it all happen. Julia Nicaise-Pierre’s bravery is what saved Eric Parker’s mother’s life during World War II.

“When the Nazis rolled into Belgium, I thought it unfolded over a much longer period of time. She reminded me that this didn’t take months. It was literally weeks from when my mother went from being the only child of her parents to an underground railroad approaching them.” Eric’s mother, Henriette recounts.

The grandparents were soon faced with the decision of what to do with their daughter – they were told that if they kept her, she would be forced into a concentration camp. The thought of giving her up was unimaginable.
