However, the situations of Naghel and Radu are changing. The women will now remain on house arrest in Romania, rather than staying in detention.
Law enforcement in Romania says it discovered at least six victims allegedly human trafficked and/or assaulted by the Tate brothers, Naghel, and Radu.
Tate and his brother remain expected to appeal this third extension of their time behind bars. However, like the previous appeals of the prior two extensions, this anticipated third appeal will likely fail.
Insight exists into the Bucharest Tribunal’s approval of the added detention time.
Apparently, a judge’s view that both Tates regularly preyed on women seeking love or better lives served as a factor. The judge also reportedly described the brothers as “particularly dangerous.”
Legal counsel for the Tate brothers alleges zero evidence exists to continue holding them. However, Romanian law enforcement clearly believes otherwise.
Before the extension, Tate and his brother had their release date set for February 27.
What comes next?
Over the next 30 days, Romanian law enforcement will continue to investigate the Tate brothers and gather evidence. Earlier this month, both Tate brothers found themselves perp-walked into the DIICOT office for a search of their electronic devices.
