This past Monday, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs was officially sworn into office. This happened after a gubernatorial election that came down to the wire last year.
Hobbs won the race by about 17,000 votes, despite failed Republican opponent Kari Lake alleging election fraud.
Each and every legal challenge Lake brought forward resulted in rejection by a judge, due to a lack of evidence. However, the Arizona Republican was ordered to pay a portion of the legal fees that Hobbs incurred amid Lake’s baseless litigation.
Earlier today, Hobbs officially addressed the state of Arizona in her formal inaugural address.
What to know about Hobbs’ inaugural address
At the Arizona State Capitol, the newly elected governor spoke about her vision for the state and how she plans to lead.
According to Hobbs, she remains committed to working with “every elected official” who is serious about making progress. This commitment from Hobbs comes as Arizona GOP members have narrow majorities in the state House and Senate.
