16-year-old Venus Rodriguez’s body was found in a creek in the Dallas suburb of Oak Cliff.  An arrest affidavit for Arturo Flores, her 22-year-old boyfriend was issued by the Dallas Police. And it outlined the forensic evidence against Flores.

Around 10 a.m. on January 16, officers responded to a 911 call about a body that had been dumped into a creek in the 1700 block of Brookhaven Drive.  Rodriguez suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.

The body was identified as Venus Rodriquez. And her family was notified. The girl had run away with her boyfriend, Flores, in September 2022. And she was 15 when she left home.

Rodriquez’s family confirmed that Flores and his family lived about 350 feet from where Rodriguez's body was found. And the investigation focused on the Flores home.

Forensic Evidence 

During the police interview, a car attempted to drive off from the Flores' home. The family member was pulled over by police. And he had two guns in the vehicle, which he said belonged to him.

Both guns were confiscated, and the automobile was towed for crime scene processing.

Police are attempting to determine, if any, of Flores's guns are the murder weapon. And will be checking the car to find out if a body could have been moved in the trunk.

The girl’s body was found underneath a blanket. According to the affidavit, the blanket could be tied back to Arturo Flores. 

A search warrant was obtained for Flores' home. And Dallas police discovered a "brand new air mattress" inside the suspect's room.

 The affidavit claimed a witness informed police that a Flores family member loaded a mattress into a truck that hauled it off on January 12. 

The area underneath the new air mattress was processed by crime scene technicians. Forensics revealed that although the room had been cleaned there was evidence of blood on the carpet and under the air mattress.

During their investigation, officers discovered that Rodriguez had posted a photo on her social media account that showed her dog and a blanket that was similar to the one found covering her body. 

According to witnesses the blanket seen in the photo and found at the scene was used by Flores and Rodriquez for their dog.

The family member said that Flores "frequently shoots his gun" and often fought with Rodriguez. 

Neighborhood witnesses told police Flores had chased Rodriguez down the street during a fight on the night she was allegedly murdered. And weeks before she died her boyfriend had physically assaulted her.
