Conjoined Twin Carmen Andrade Marries Longtime Partner: Lupita Remains Single

A Wedding Built on Respect and Understanding
During the May 21 video, Carmen beamed at the camera and raised her left hand to show off a wedding ring. “I did get married,” she said. Her twin sister, Lupita Andrade, who is conjoined with Carmen, quickly clarified with a smile, “I did not.” Daniel, 28, chimed in playfully, “I got an upgrade,” proudly identifying himself as “the husband.” Carmen wore an emerald, green gown, while Daniel complemented her look in a dark suit with a matching green bowtie. “I didn’t wear white. Don’t regret it. I don’t like white,” she said. Addressing potential confusion, Carmen clarified: “We got married”—gesturing to herself and Daniel—“but we did not get married”—motioning to herself, Daniel, and Lupita.
Conjoined Twin Breaks Stereotypes
Carmen and Lupita are thoracopagus twins, meaning they are connected at the torso and share a pelvis, reproductive system, and one leg. Lupita is asexual and has long supported Carmen’s desire for a romantic relationship. “But I want Carmen to settle down. I know that’s important to her,” Lupita told TODAY.com. Carmen shared that she received many inappropriate messages from men on dating apps. “I got a lot of messages from guys with fetishes,” she said. “I knew right off the bat that Daniel was different... He didn’t lead with a question about my condition.” The couple said they love children but won’t be having any, citing endometriosis and the hormone blockers they take to prevent menstruation. “We’re happy being dog parents,” Carmen said.Advocates for Disability Awareness
Through their YouTube channel and social media platforms, the Andrade twins continue to raise awareness about life as conjoined twins. “We’re not just conjoined twins—we’re people,” Carmen said, pushing back against invasive questions and assumptions. According to the Mayo Clinic, conjoined twins are rare, occurring in about 1 in every 50,000 to 200,000 births. Stories like Carmen’s are even rarer, with the only other widely publicized conjoined twin marriage being Abby Hensel, who wed Josh Bowling in 2021, as first reported by TODAY.com.A Marriage Celebrating Love and Autonomy
