Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio also had a similar message for President Biden. Rubio remarked that Biden can restore Cuban people’s internet connectivity by first employing emergency connectivity. This is far from an unprecedented measure; the United States used emergency connectivity for Puerto Rico four years prior after a hurricane killed internet access.
Reluctance from the White House
According to Sen. Rubio, he’s had conversations with the White House regarding internet access restoration for Cuba; however, since this matter became an issue, the White House has shown reluctance to truly and expressly back the Cuban people over the communist regime.
Only yesterday did President Biden offer a meek rejection of both communism and socialism. On Twitter yesterday evening, however, Sen. Rubio did state that President Biden showed openness to getting internet access back to the Cuban people.
The Florida senator also declared that the situation in Cuban shouldn’t be a bipartisan issue, but rather one where Republicans and Democrats join forces.
