Facebook suspended the account of AggregateIQ, a Canadian political consultancy firm, from its platform on Friday as the data scandal continues to unfold.
The social network giant made the decision following reports that AggregateIQ may be connected to SCL, the parent company of Cambridge Analytica. Therefore, there is a possibility that the Canadian firm improperly gained access and misused the personal data of FB users.
In a statement, Facebook said, “In light of recent reports that AggregateIQ may be affiliated with SCL and may as a result, have improperly received FB user data, we have added them to the list of entities we have suspended from our platform while we investigate.”
In addition, the social network giant said its internal review is ongoing. It is cooperating fully with any investigations by regulatory authorities. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is currently looking into Facebook’s privacy practices due to the Cambridge Analytica data scandal.
