Thus far, Crist leads the pack amongst Democrats with 54% support. Florida Democrat voters’ second choice to face DeSantis is Fried at 28%, followed by Taddeo at 7%.

Meanwhile, a survey conducted by St. Pete Polls shows DeSantis comfortably leading every single Democrat. DeSantis enjoys a 5.8% lead over Crist; meanwhile, the Florida governor also maintains an 8.8% advantage over Fried.

More crushing letdowns for Florida Democrats

While Florida Democrats trail DeSantis in hypothesized general election matchups, additional hardships confront their party. 

In South Florida, Democrats are having significant issues with finding candidates to put on the congressional ballots. This is especially applicable to the 26th and 27th districts of the Sunshine State.

In 2021, Florida Democrats also lost the voter registration advantage they enjoyed over Republicans. Under DeSantis’ leadership, Florida has seen massive numbers of people moving into the state.
