In this year’s presidential election, the female vote is the talk of the nation. Women have long been considered critical for political candidates to win over. However, some would argue that the stakes are higher, amid issues like the reversal of Roe v. Wade in 2022, controversial abortion restrictions, and talk on the right wing about opposing birth control and IVF.
Democratic candidates are zeroing in on these topics in the homes of winning female voters in November. In fact, as Vice President Kamala Harris campaigns for the White House, she’s committed to signing a bill that nationally codifies Roe v. Wade. Republicans, on the other hand, are having to weather criticism that accuses them of alienating women with poor candidates and unpopular policies.
Amid the drama, a new poll from YouGov and Economist shows female voters overwhelmingly favor Harris for the Oval Office over former President Trump.
What the women of America think about this year’s election
According to findings from earlier this week, 51% of registered female voters are backing Harris. Only 38% expressed their support for Trump. This information tracks with previous polls revealing a major gender gap in this year’s election. While women largely prefer the vice president, Trump performs better among men.
