With less than 80 days left until November 5, the race for the White House is quickly heating up.

This week, Vice President Kamala Harris will attend the Democratic National Convention and officially accept the nomination. On September 10, she and Trump are facing off for a one-on-one debate. Then, come October 1, Democratic running mate Tim Walz will debate GOP running mate JD Vance.

In the meantime, both the Harris and Trump campaigns are working tenaciously to make headway in battleground states. Thus far, polling shows the candidates in a dead heat with one another.

According to Times/Siena, the vice president carries a two-point lead over Trump in North Carolina and a five-point lead over him in Arizona. Both of these states went to the former president in 2016 and 2020, so the latest numbers in these battlegrounds suggest a dent in his support.

Georgia and Nevada, on the other hand, currently have Trump in the lead. The 45th president holds four-point and one-point advantages over Harris.
