Heard was also awarded damages in her countersuit, receiving $2 million as compensation.

Despite the prolonged legal battles, the former couple let go of their appeals and opted for a settlement in December.

In an Instagram announcement, Heard expressed her determination to defend her truth, emphasizing that the settlement was not an admission of guilt or a concession.

She said the settlement was “not an act of concession” and that she had “made no admission.”

“The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways in which women are re-victimized when they come forward,” she added. “Now I finally have an opportunity to emancipate myself from something I attempted to leave over six years ago and on terms I can agree to.”

The agreed-upon settlement of $1 million, covered by Heard’s insurance company, was met with a promise from Depp and his legal team to donate the funds to deserving charities.

Depp’s lawyers, Benjamin Chew and Camille Vasquez expressed their satisfaction with the resolution. In a statement, they agreed that their client’s priority was to bring the truth to light throughout the legal process. The closure of this painful chapter allows Depp to move forward while helping those in need.
