After Liam Payne’s Death, Former Band Speaks

Liam Payne Passing
On Wednesday, October 16th, it was reported that Liam Payne died from a fall off of his third-story balcony at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The local authorities called them to the hotel to investigate an "aggressive man." The man was assumed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Payne had revealed in recent years that he struggled with addiction. While it was unsure whether Payne jumped or fell from the balcony, authorities later confirmed that he jumped and succumbed to his injuries. His hotel room was found destroyed with drugs and alcohol present. This fact increased suspicion that he was under the influence when he died. His cause of death was deemed to be internal and external bleeding, as well as a fracture to the base of his skull. Local Argentine authorities will do further investigation and a complete autopsy.Statements From One Direction
The remaining members of One Direction released a joint statement shortly after Payne's passing. The Instagram post expresses their love for Liam and is signed by the remaining members. These members include Harry, Louis, Niall, and Zayn. Each of the members then made their heartfelt statements shortly after. Zayn Malik's post reads, "Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me. I can't help but think selfishly that there were so many more conversations for us to have in our lives." Malik continues by thanking Liam for supporting him during their early years in One Direction. Louis Tomlinson made a post as well, writing in the caption about how much he adored Liam, what a good friend he was, and expressing his desire to support Liam's son, Bear. "I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me, I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was," Tomlinson wrote. Niall Horan made his statement talking about the last time he saw Liam. After expressing his grief for his friend and former bandmate, he said, "I feel so fortunate that I got to see him recently. I sadly didn't know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever. It's heartbreaking." Harry Styles expressed his grief for Liam's family, "My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicola and Ruth, his son Bear, and all those around the world who knew and loved his, as I did."One Direction
The boy band One Direction was extremely popular throughout the 2010s. The five members were originally put together after their 2010 X-Factor performances. In addition to Payne, the original members included Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik. The band released four albums that included all five members, then one more album once Zayn Malik departed.
