As a whole, Ava’s videos have attracted positive responses, especially from the right-wing. Many Americans view the 8-year-old’s content as comedic; the unique physical similarities between Ava and Ocasio-Cortez, such as the glasses, lipstick and hairstyle, also adds to the success of the impressions.
Thus far, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has not openly provided a statement or remarks about her thoughts of Ava Martinez.
The Underlying Message
Ultimately, the faux AOC impressions mock the congresswoman’s statements, intelligence, and policies. Since Ocasio-Cortez’s time in the limelight, she has made occasional blunders regarding political matters, something which Ava intentionally does within her skits.
Furthermore, Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal attracted intense condemnation since its inception, although not all Democrats have completely abandoned it. Still, there are many controversial parts of the Green New Deal; sections which took the most hits included banning air travel, doing away with gas-fueled vehicles and calls to provide economic aid to those who are unwilling to work.
