Murder charges have been thrown out by Cook County prosecutors against a mother and her son involved in the fatal shooting of a man during a dispute inside a West Pullman neighborhood fast-food restaurant.
The mother, 35-year-old Carlishia Hood, and her 14-year-old son were initially accused of first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Jeremy Brown, 32, inside the Maxwell Street Express restaurant on South Halsted Street.

Hood was reportedly waiting in line for food inside the restaurant while her son was in their car.
Brown came in shortly after, and an argument sprouted between him and Hood.
As the argument escalated into a physical confrontation, with Brown striking Hood thrice, Hood’s son made his dramatic entrance and shot Brown in the back.
