“Prosecution and impeachment discussions must begin right away,” GOP Chair Nick Langworthy said. “If the Governor is involved, he should be immediately removed from office.”

State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt. And Rep. Tom Reed asked other members of Congress to demand “an independent and thorough investigation by the Biden Department of Justice into Governor Cuomo and New York State.”

Cuomo’s aide Melissa DeRosa was the one who exposed the scandal inadvertently on a call with fellow Democrats where she, likely, thought she was safe.

The governor’s office said no to a legislative request for the information in August because “right around the same time, [then-President Donald Trump] turns this into a giant political football,” she said.

“He starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” she said. “He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”

She said that part of what directed their decision, in addition to former President Trump going after his fellow Democrat governors, he “directs the Department of Justice to do an investigation into us.”
