OPINION: House Republicans Need to Get It Together

In 2023, the Republican Party has major problems.

At the top of the list is the faction of the GOP that’s made Trump their new god, despite Trump losing the 2020 presidential election, repeatedly lying about his loss, and endorsing a host of 2022 midterm candidates who went on to get their rear ends handed to them by Democrats.

However, yet another problem emerging for Republicans is the chaos happening in the House of Representatives. During last year’s midterms, Republicans fought tooth and nail to take back the House from Democrats.

Yet, since securing this majority in the lower congressional chamber, House Republicans have made fools of themselves.

The House Speaker position

Earlier this year, Rep. Kevin McCarthy had to go through more than half a dozen voting sessions before finally becoming House Speaker.

However, the California Republican would later go on to be booted out of the position earlier this month. That happened after eight House GOP members supported a motion to oust him.
