The show opens with “Help!,” a Beatles classic performed in full live for the first time since 1965. Other highlights include “Get Back,” “Helter Skelter,” “Band on the Run,” and the emotional “Let It Be” and “Hey Jude,” which still elicit goosebumps.
During “Now and Then,” the 2023 “final Beatles recording,” McCartney performs alongside video footage of John Lennon from Peter Jackson’s Get Back documentary. “Thank you, John, for writing that lovely song,” McCartney told the crowd, prompting tears from fans.
He also honors George Harrison with a ukulele rendition of “Something” and dedicates “My Valentine” to his wife Nancy Shevell, accompanied by a black-and-white video featuring Johnny Depp signing the lyrics.
The Paul McCartney Got Back Tour: A Legendary Return
McCartney’s Minneapolis concert was particularly nostalgic, marking 60 years since his first performance in the Twin Cities with The Beatles at the old Met Stadium. “How many artists can say they’ve played the same town for six decades and still draw 50,000 people?” one reviewer asked.
