In the former mayor’s own words:
“We sent a message to every kid out there wondering if whatever marks them out as different means they are destined to be less than. To see someone who once felt that exact same way can become a leading presidential candidate with his husband at his side.”

Reviewing Pete Buttigieg’s Run for the White House
Throughout Buttigieg’s campaign, he attempted to brand himself as a moderate candidate. This involved his embrace of less extreme versions of policies favored by more progressive candidates. Moreover, the former mayor also frequently clashed with Warren over her dishonesty regarding Medicare-for-All and its payment plan.
During his time as a presidential candidate, Buttigieg attempted to communicate that all people were welcome to join his campaign. The Democrat often talked about the need to welcome in a coalition of Democrats, “future former Republicans,” and Independents. However, Buttigieg’s remarks also included claims that Trump supporters are “at best looking the other way on racism.”
