The Prince also confirmed he would relinquish his membership in the Order of the Garter, one of the United Kingdom’s oldest and most prestigious chivalric honors and orders.

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further,” he added. “I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

However, to formally remove his ducal title from the peerage rolls, an Act of Parliament would still be required.
