Notable bodybuilder and fitness enthusiast Justyn Vicky, a well-known figure in Bali’s fitness scene, tragically lost his life in a severe weightlifting incident. Vicky was just 33 years old.
The Fatal Incident
While working out at The Paradise Gym, a key hub for Bali’s fitness enthusiasts, Vicky was involved in a devastating accident on Saturday. Engaging in a heavy squat of over 180 kilograms (nearly 400 pounds), with a spotter observing closely behind him, an unexpected tragedy unfolded.
According to a report by Bali Discovery, Vicky, failing to execute the lift, tumbled forward. This unfortunate misstep led to the weight bar rolling off his shoulders and causing a sharp, fatal jerk to his neck and head.
As reported by the Bali Express, the sudden force exerted by the weight bar caused a brutal snap of Vicky’s neck, leading to nerve compression to his heart and respiratory systems. Despite being swiftly rushed to the hospital, Vicky succumbed to his severe injuries.
Remembering Justyn Vicky
Kang Gede, a close friend of Vicky’s, expressed his grief and paid homage to Vicky in a comment to the Bali Express. Gede recalled Vicky as a gracious, sociable individual who freely imparted his fitness knowledge and always urged his gym mates to exercise cautiously. “Only ourselves can measure our own abilities. I hope Vicky will be peacefully put to sleep by God and get a proper place,” Gede added.
