The two Americans, Judith Tai Raanan and her 17-year-old daughter Natalie Shoshana Raanan were handed over to the Israeli military, according to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that ongoing efforts are focused on securing the release of additional hostages, and he expressed the commitment to free every American held hostage. He also emphasized the work to ensure the safe passage out of Gaza for Americans still trapped in the region.

The two hostages, originally from the northern Chicago suburbs, were in Israel to celebrate a relative’s birthday.

Natalie Raanan’s father, speaking to the Associated Press, mentioned that she is “doing very good.” He expressed his belief that both Natalie and Judith are in transit to Tel Aviv to reunite with relatives and are expected to return to the U.S. early next week.
