Ukraine Drones Target Central Moscow

The evidence gathered from the recent overnight attacks strongly suggests that a Ukrainian-made long-range drone was used in the operation, corroborating a recent New York Times article.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Zelensky, expressed on social media that Moscow seems to be adjusting to the reality of a full-fledged war. The drone strikes appear to be a response to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, with Ukrainian leaders asserting that targeting sites within Russia is a legitimate measure in their fight to protect their country.

However, the attacks inside Russia, though concerning, are minor in comparison to the destruction being inflicted by Moscow’s troops on Ukrainian soil. The conflict has seen a devastating toll on civilians, with thousands of homes and businesses damaged or destroyed. UNESCO has also reported that 274 cultural sites in Ukraine have been damaged since the conflict’s outbreak in February of the previous year.

The glass-facade high rise that was targeted in Moscow housed the ministries of digital development, economy, and industrial development. Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that the drone used in the attack was electronically jammed and lost control before crashing into the building, but details about injuries were not immediately available.
