After a 2-day manhunt, authorities captured 57-year-old Vance Boelter on Sunday night near his home in Green Isle, Minnesota.

Boelter is accused of carrying out a politically motivated shooting spree that left two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses shot—two fatally—in what officials are calling a targeted attack.

The deadly incident began early Saturday morning and triggered a massive manhunt involving multiple local and federal agencies, including the FBI, which offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to Boelter’s arrest.

“The face of evil,” the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office posted with a photo of Boelter in custody. “After relentless and determined police work, the killer is now in custody.”

Disguised as a Police Officer

Boelter reportedly approached both homes wearing a mask and dressed as a police officer, driving an SUV made to resemble a law enforcement vehicle. When confronted outside Rep. Melissa Hortman’s residence, he opened fire on officers before fleeing through the back of the house.
