Education has always been, and will continue to be, a critical part of America’s social fabric. Without the education of our youth, society would quickly crumble.
Yet, today, it’s also become a battlefield. Civilians and leaders keep butting heads with one another over the most appropriate methods to educate young people.
The problems don’t end there. Ever since COVID, our nation’s education system has been forced to contend with a frightening lack of teachers. During the height of the pandemic, many educators quit their jobs and not enough new hires arrived to fill the gap.
Other issues, such as teachers’ salary and the treatment that parents and students alike subject teachers to, have also become part of the conversation.
Amid all this turmoil, a new poll reveals that less than 40% of Americans feel satisfied with the nation’s education system as it stands today.
The latest public consensus on education in the United States
In a Gallup survey, just 36% of people expressed satisfaction with the state of education here in America. The overall dissatisfaction exists across political lines too, with less than three in ten Republicans and barely over four in ten Democrats expressing contentment.
