Speculation about the existence of a New England serial killer is rapidly gaining traction online. A private Facebook group titled “New England Serial Killer” has become a central hub for the growing conversation.
According to a report from MassLive, the group has ballooned to more than 57,000 members, gaining over 10,000 new members in just the past week.
Web sleuths are convinced that a serial killer is active in New England.
A Viral Theory Gains Momentum Online
Interest in the topic has also surged beyond Facebook. Google searches for “New England serial killer” spiked around April 7, showing a clear public fascination and concern about the possibility of a connected series of crimes.
Human Remains Discovered in Multiple Locations
The speculation appears to stem from several recent discoveries of human remains across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island between March and April. The identified locations include:
- New Haven, Groton, Killingly, and Norwalk, Connecticut
- Framingham and Plymouth, Massachusetts
- Foster, Rhode Island
Authorities have identified three of the victims so far:
- Denise Leary, 59, of New Haven, whose remains were found on March 21
- Paige Fannon, 35, of West Islip, New York, found in the Norwalk River on March 6
- Michele Romano, 56, whose remains were discovered in Foster, Rhode Island; she had been missing since August 2024.
Police have not released the victims’ cause of death. And at least 4 victims found are still unidentified.
