Trump Announced Pardons for Nearly 80 Allies, Latest Pardons Include High-Profile Figures

Trump announced pardons

President Donald Trump announced pardons late Sunday, marking one of the most sweeping exercises of presidential clemency in recent memory. The latest pardons—almost 80 in total—were largely granted to individuals with direct political or financial connections to Trump, including former campaign aides, attorneys, and major donors.

The New York Times: Trump’s Second-Term Pardons Include Donors, Advisers, and Political Loyalists

Pardons for Election-Related Figures and Close Advisers

The November 9 round of pardons included several key figures from Trump’s post-2020 election efforts—individuals involved in what prosecutors described as “fake elector” schemes. Those pardoned include Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro, Jenna Ellis, Christina Bobb, and John Eastman—all former Trump lawyers who sought to overturn the 2020 election results.

Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Trump advisor Boris Epshteyn were also among the pardoned. Trump’s statement declared the clemency covered “any conduct relating to efforts to expose voting fraud and vulnerabilities in the 2020 presidential election.”

The move has stirred debate among legal experts, with some describing it as “an extraordinary act of political loyalty,” while others warn it “further blurs the line between justice and favoritism.”

Donors and Business Ties in Trum Announced Pardons

According to Federal Election Commission filings, those pardoned collectively donated about $250,000 to Trump’s political committees between 2024 and 2025. Georgia businessman David Hanna, a fake elector and CEO of Atlanticus Holdings Corporation, gave the largest sum—approximately $145,500.

Crypto executives and donors also featured prominently. Trump’s October 21 pardon of Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao came just months after Zhao’s company worked with Trump’s World Liberty Financial platform to issue the USD1 stablecoin. The Wall Street Journal reported that Binance engineers helped build technology for the token, though World Liberty denies any connection to Zhao’s pardon.

Trump also pardoned HDR Global Trading Ltd., the parent company of BitMEX, and several of its founders after the firm’s conviction for Bank Secrecy Act violations. The decision was widely seen as a boost to Trump’s growing crypto empire. BitMEX had been one of the first exchanges to list Trump’s $TRUMP memecoin and World Liberty’s WLFI token.

Celebrities, Former Politicians, and Political Supporters

The latest pardons extended to reality TV stars Julie and Todd Chrisley, convicted of tax fraud, whose daughter, Savannah, spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention in support of Trump.

Other beneficiaries include Rod Blagojevich, the former Illinois governor and “Celebrity Apprentice” contestant, and Ross Ulbricht, the Silk Road founder championed by Libertarian groups.

Former Nevada politician Michelle Fiore, ex-Rep. Michael Grimm and several Jan. 6 rioters also received clemency. As one Justice Department official put it, “This second-term wave of pardons reinforces Trump’s message—loyalty is rewarded.”

A Pattern in Trump Announced Pardons

While Trump’s actions have reignited controversy, they follow a long tradition of presidents granting clemency to allies. Critics note, however, that Trump’s latest round stands out for its scale, timing, and self-interested undertones.

“Every president extends mercy,” noted one former pardon attorney, “but this feels less like mercy and more like a transaction.”

With more pardons reportedly in the works, the scope of Trump’s clemency powers—and their political implications—are once again under the microscope.
